Are you getting ready for the Holy Spirit?

Jesus says in the Gospel, he will ask the Father who will give us another advocate. We believe that over 40 of our young people received this Holy Spirit this past Thursday at the Sacrament of Confirmation. But are you ready for the spirit?

Once we are fully initiated, that is, having been Baptized received Confirmation and First Eucharist, we may believe that we don’t need the coming of the Holy Spirit any longer. But the charismatic renewal, after Vatican Council II, reminded us that the Holy Spirit is alive and active in our church and in our world. But we need to pray to be open to his gifts.

Spend the next couple of weeks getting ready for the Holy Spirit. Pray for a specific gift that you may need right now in your family or in your life. Don’t let this graced opportunity pass you by and, as Saint Paul says, “Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks you for a reason for your hope. “
