Well, this is it! We are just one week away from beginning Holy Week again. Next Sunday is Passion (Palm) Sunday (by the way did you notice that we changed the name 50 years ago with Vatican II!?). This is the climax of our Lenten journey. Some of us may be grateful, growing weary of our Lenten fasts and sacrifices. Others may be lamenting the fact they have not even begun to reflect on Lent. Wherever we find ourselves, Holy Week is coming. Make a resolution to enter into it with Jesus.
Our Passion (Palm) Sunday Masses are beautiful, beginning outside with the reading of the Gospel about the entrance of Jesus into Jerusalem to loud shouts of “Hosanna,” to the shocking and eye-opening account of the Passion in the Gospel of the Mass. Join the entire Archdiocese of Baltimore at the Chrism Mass on Monday, March 26 at 7:30 PM at the Cathedral where Archbishop Lori will bless all of the oils to be used for the Sacraments all year—the oil of catechumen, the oil of the sick and the Sacred Chrism. It is free and open to anyone—no ticket required. Many people have never been to this Mass nor even to the Cathedral. Additionally, please pay close attention to the Easter mailing that lists all of our liturgies for Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. Make it a resolution that you will join our parish family for one, if not all, of these beautiful liturgies. Your Easter will be all the more fruitful and joyful.
