From the Pastor’s Desk (12/17/2017)

It’s ironic, isn’t it?  At this time of the year the Church celebrates Gaudete (Rejoice) Sunday as the Third Sunday of Advent. Designed to celebrate that the Lord is very near, why would we not be rejoicing at this time of year?  Well, family issues, the hectic pace that gets even busier, moody people on the road, in the lines at the stores, wondering what to get people for Christmas, depression at the loss of a loved one this past year or simply of loss over the year can lead all of us to depression even if it’s minor.  St. Paul says, “Rejoice always!”  It is a message we really need to hear right now.  We are challenged to re-prioritize if we are feeling stressed, moody, or depressed. What could be  better news than the Lord Jesus being so near?!
