A black cassock and white surplus are the defining marks of our children that choose to serve God by becoming altar servers. The children of St. Mark’s are invited to become altar servers beginning in third grade. Over the last two years, our ranks have grown to over 50 altar servers. Altar servers are trained in three different roles – candle bearer, lead server and senior server. The altar servers fill an important role for our parish by assisting the priest in leading God’s people in prayer. Their ministry allows the prayer of the Church to take place with reverence and beauty and enhances the overall beauty of the celebration for all who have gathered to pray. Next time you are at Mass, please take a moment to acknowledge the servers and let them know they are doing a good job!
